Lowville, NY — The Kraft Heinz plant in Lowville has reclaimed the Guinness World Record for the largest cheesecake. Previously held by the facility before it was claimed by Russia in 2017, the world record has been won back with a colossal cheesecake weighing in at 15,008 pounds.
The Sweet Comeback
The journey to reclaim the record was sparked by Kraft Heinz’s recognition that the title had slipped from their grasp. Ben Walseman, the calibration technician lead at the plant, stated “We found out a few years ago that we didn’t really hold the record anymore. So we wanted to get that done and reclaim that for Lowville, and the community, and the workers at the Kraft Heinz plant.”
A Collaborative Effort
Brady Systems played a key role in the weighing process for this record. Utilizing equipment from METTLER TOLEDO, the team set up a weighing system using four floor scales connected to an IND780 scale terminal. This setup ensured accurate measurements throughout the process. The total weight, including the pan, was just under 20,000 pounds, showcasing the massive scale of this culinary creation.
The custom cheesecake pan weighed more than 4,000 pounds. The cheesecake contained 870 pounds of graham cracker crumbs, 300 pounds of sugar, more than 100 pounds of butter, and more than 13,000 pounds of cheesecake filling, made at Kraft’s Lowville plant.

The record-setting cheesecake was unveiled during the annual Cream Cheese Festival, including live music, food stalls, and family activities. Once the cheesecake was completed, it was officially weighed before a Guinness World Records official, marking the moment with great excitement and anticipation.
